ROLE:

Model Room Design

The adaptive reuse of the historic L. Mendel Rivers Federal Building in Charleston,  South Carolina as a hotel was the manifestation of founder John Dewberry’s vision of “Southern Re-Imagined” (trademarked). Early concepts for the public areas as well as the guest rooms for The Dewberry Charleston were designed by of a team of designers and architects including Cameron Schwabenton, Reggie Gibson, and Janel Dagon. Under the direction of this joint venture, model rooms integrating mid-century modern furniture with traditional appointments were carefully executed, delivering on a sensitivity for historic preservation by creating the perfect blend of modernity and the past. A neutral finish palette punctuated by accents of rich deep hues creates a stunning and restful guest experience.
